Common State Academic Standards. On Wednesday, June 2, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, please join us here at Peachtree Ridge as the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), along with the help of governors, school chiefs, and education leaders from across the country, will release the Common Core State Standards. The Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) is a state-led effort launched more than a year ago to develop clear, robust academic standards to prepare students for success in college and careers. The standards were drafted by a working group of teachers, content experts, and leading researchers, and are also informed by the best models from within the U.S. and abroad and nearly 10,000 public comments. This event marks the end of the development phase of the Common Core State Standards Initiative and the beginning of the adoption process in the individual states. In addition to featured speakers and panelists, experts will also be available to answer questions about the program. Need more information? Visit www.corestandards.org or contact Annie Friedman at afriedman@gpgny.com or 646-495-1917.
